They had several children, but some of the names and dates vary in sources. Glenn E Lathrop is buried in Evergreen cemetery. A daughter, Permelia May/Mary Lathrop, is thought to be buried in Evergreen cemetery in S.Div.2.20, but without a headstone. However, there are also sources that believe she may have been buried in Old Fairfield city cemetery. She was born in 1917 and died on July 29, 1917. This contributor is not making a memorial for her in either cemetery pending clarification. A son, Donald Leroy Lathrop, is also believed to be buried in S.Div.2.20 in an unmarked grave. His DOB is believed to be 1925, but his DOD can be found as either June 29, 1925 or June 29, 1929. A memorial for him is pending clarification of his death date. Information about the remaining children would be appreciated: Marguerite, Pauline, Charles, Russell, and Melvin Gilbert. --------- Obituary: Fairfield Ia. Ledger Monday May 24, 1971 Pg. 8 Col. 7 Illness Fatal To Mrs. LATHROP, 80 Mrs. Edward LATHROP, 80, 613 W. Van Buren, died Saturday at 6:15 p.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital. She had been seriously ill for the past 13 days. Last rites will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Free Methodist Church with the Rev. E. Wayne Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The casket will be taken from the Weston Behner funeral Home to the church Wednesday at 9 a.m. The former Carrie HOUCK, Mrs. LATHROP was born Aug. 23, 1890 (sic 1891 on headstone inscription) at Vinton. Most of her life was spent in Fairfield. She was married to Edward G. LATHROP Jan. 27, 1907. He died Oct. 21, 1960. Mrs. LATHROP was a member of the Free Methodist Church. She is survived by six children: Mrs. Marguerite CALHOON, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Pauline SCHADT, Seattle; Charles LATHROP, Felton, Calif.; Glenn LATHROP, San Pabla, Calif.; and Melvin LATHROP, Brighton. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mrs. LATHROP was preceded in death by one daughter, one son and 17 brothers and sisters.
