Her maiden name was Young. She was born in Dauphin county, Penn., March 17, 1849. Married to Mr. G. W. Hauck, May 17, 1869 at Tremont, Pa. To this union were born six children, Charles, William, Louis, Lizzie, Herman and Harry. Mr. and Mrs. Hauck came to Kansas during the winter of 1877-8 settling in Valley Falls which has ever since been their home. She was one of seven children three of whom with her parents had preceeded her to the spirit world, her mother Mrs. Elizabeth Klebenstine dying two years ago at the ripe old age of 93 years. She is survived by her husband, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Shirk, and Mrs. Susan Dickson of Waterville, one brother Mr. Louis Klebenstine of Kansas City, Mo., and the five sons and one daughter all of whom reside in Valley Falls except the daughter Mrs. Meeder whose home is in Ward, Colo. In the passing away of Mrs. Hauck this community has suffered a distinct loss. A gentle unassuming woman whose whole desire was to do good unto all especially unto those of her own household, thereby exemplifying those elements of heart and mind that characterize a true wife and mother. Five stalwart sons who are so largely identified with the business life of this community, one womanly daughter, a true daughter of her mother, with the bereaved husband arise to call her blessed.
