They were the parents of Lucy, Edward, Vincent, Annabelle, Arthur, Josephine, George, Frank, and Robert. June 17, 1935 - Carroll Daily Herald - Mrs. John O'Brien, who would have been 65 years old July 4, passed away yesterday evening at 6:30 at St. Anthony hospital after an illness of several weeks. Her husband, John O'Brien, passed away on April 1, this year, and since that time Mrs. O'Brien had been in failing health. She had been suffering from heart trouble... They were the parents of Lucy, Edward, Vincent, Annabelle, Arthur, Josephine, George, Frank, and Robert. June 17, 1935 - Carroll Daily Herald - Mrs. John O'Brien, who would have been 65 years old July 4, passed away yesterday evening at 6:30 at St. Anthony hospital after an illness of several weeks. Her husband, John O'Brien, passed away on April 1, this year, and since that time Mrs. O'Brien had been in failing health. She had been suffering from heart trouble for some time and about 10 days ago was removed to the hospital from her home on Elm street. Although in a serious condition, her family seemed to think that she was a little improved the last few days, and the nurse, Miss Mary Millenacker, was dismissed from the case. Complications set in and due to the condition of her heart, she passed away yesterday at 5:30 o'clock. Funeral services will be held at St Joseph church, Wednesady morning at 9 o'clock. Interment will be in the St Joseph cemetery. The body was taken to the O'Brien home this afternoon from the funeral home. Catherine Lenz was born July 4, 1870 at La Salle, Illinois the daughter of Phillip and Anna Lenz. She became the bride of John O'Brien at Ss. Peter and Paul church in Carroll on May 14, 1889. The young couple moved onto a farm south of town and lived until the year 1894 when they moved to a farm near Maple River. They lived on the same place until 1929 when due to the poor health of Mr O'Brien, they retired to their new home on Elm street in Carroll. Nine children were born to Mr and Mrs O'Brien all living with the exception of Mrs B.A. Pille (Lucy) who died in 1918. Surviving are the following: Edward of Corning, CA; Vincent of Lake View, Ia; Mrs B.A. Pille (Annabelle) of Maple River; Arthur of Maple River; Mrs Frank Bruening (Josephine); George, Frank, and Robert all of Carroll. There are 16 living grandchildren. She is also survived by several brothers and sisters who are: Mas Mary Wahl of Westfield, IA; Henry Lenz of Willmont MN; John Lenz of Mt Carmel; Phillip Lenz of Kimball, S.D.; Mrs Julius Huseman of Columbus, NE; Mrs Anna Murre of Bancroft; and Matt Lenz.
