Description	:	The sudden death of Mrs. Catherine Roach at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, December 8, was a great shock to her relatives and friends. She was feeling so well and happy that morning and after breakfast attended church. She was taken ill in church but walked part of the way home being taken the remaining way by car. She was feeling so well and happy that morning and after breakfast attended church. She was taken ill in church but walked part of the way home being taken the remaining way by car. She lived only about an hour and forty-five minutes after returning home. Mrs. Roach was a kind and loving mother, a true friend to her neighbors and acquaintances and was beloved by all. Every day of her life had been filled with Christian living. She held the highest respect of all and a great vacancy has been caused by her going that cannot be filled. Catherine Madigan was born in Franktown, Ontario, Canada, on August 16, 1863 to parents Patrick and Johanna (Powers) Madigan. She was baptized on October 14, 1863 at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Perth , Ontario, Canada. She was 67 years, three months, and 22 days of age. With her parents she came to Cass County, Dakota Territory in August 1880. They came to Ransom County in October of the same year settling near Plymouth. She was married October 4, 1887 to Edward Roach, also from Plymouth, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Lisbon. There were born five children Christopher M. Roach of Glendive MT; Mrs. Henry Eddy of Columbus, MT; John E. Roach, Mrs. Joseph Wiederholt, and Daniel R. Roach all of Lisbon; also nine grandchildren all of whom are living. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Simpson of Pocatello, ID, and one brother, John Madigan of Lisbon who made his home with his sister, Mrs. Roach, for the past four years. Two brothers, Dennis and James, and one sister, Mrs. William Kidd of Portland, OR preceded her in death. Her husband preceded her in death on March 14, 1906. She moved to Lisbon in 1919 where she has since resided. Funeral services were held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, of which she was a member, at 10 a.m. December 10. Father Al O'Donohue officiated with such kind and cheerful words that comforted her relatives and friends. Burial was made in the family lot in St Aloysius Cemetery beside her husband. The pall bearers were James B. Doyle, John O'Brien, Andrew Beaucage, John Sinnott, R. L. Leach, and Thomas Conboy, all dear friends of the deceased.
