Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday at Wesley Untied Methodist Church, 1405 So Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev David Shogren officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM Thursday at the Bohemian Cemetery at Plymouth. Cecil was born August 3, 1915, in Mason City where he has remained a faithful resident all of his life. He was the son of John and Martha (Winters) Shreckengost. He attended school in Mason City and then entered farming. Cecil was united in marriage to Mary Belle Wise on March 1, 1973 at the Wesley United Methodist Church. He operated a full farming operation and raised corn, hay and soybeans as well as having a diary herd. His love in toiling in the soil continued even after his retirement with raising vegetable gardens each year. Prior to this illness, he was looking forward to planting this year's crop. He was known for rather being outdoors in the worse of weather than being cooped up inside. Cecil always had time for the children of his life and enjoyed being with them. He was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the Moose and Legion of the Moose. Cecil will be sadly missed by his wife, Mary Belle, of Mason City; his two sisters, Mrs. John E. (Dorothy) Roby of Smith Center, KA and Mrs. Gene (Cleo) Eldridge of Mason City; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His family members who include his parents, stepmother "Jennie" three sisters, Fern Baughman, Helen Sorenson, and Rachel Shreckengost; and two brothers, Orin and Howard Shreckengost preceded Cecil in death.
