Read More	Cecil Clark, 64, Widely Known Butte Man Dies The "Irish Indian" of the Mining City is Dead. Cecil Clark, a salesman, amateur poet, close friend of the Salish Indian tribe of northern Montana and a native Montanan, died in his home at 2633 Harvard, Sunday morning. He was 64. Born on a ranch in Madison County June 18, 1896, he lived in the Treasure State nearly all of his life. He was noted widely for his outdoor life and modest literary accomplishments. The author of two poetry books, dealing with what he termed "Montana in the rough," he had appeared in rodeos and was acquainted with several pioneer cowpunchers. A resident of Billings a number of years, Mr. Clark moved to Butte in 1934 to work with the Davidson Wholesale Grocery Co. His work led him to several Montana cities. He was hailed by the Salish Indians as an outstanding hunter and fisherman and spent a great deal of his free time in the mountains. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Butte Clerks Union, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Highland Lodge No. 142, AF&AM. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Mast of Great Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph W. Clark of Manhattan; grandchildren, Jack and Lee Clark and John Mast; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Clark of Great Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester M. Clark of Butte, Mr. and Mrs. C.T. Clark of Delhi, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Clark of Medford, Ore., and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Clark of Santa Clara, Calif., Eugene Clark of Whitehall and Sylvian Clark of Palo Alto, Calif.; brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Towles of Raymond, Wash.; mother-in-law, Mrs. Jessie Anderson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Laurs of Phoenix, Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Nollen of Roundup, Mr. and Mrs. James S Anderson of Harlowton, and Douglas Chalmers of Shawmut, and several nieces and nephews.
