Funeral services for Charles Klotz, who passed away suddenly at his home near Saffordville Tuesday August 18, were conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, August 21, at the Brown funeral home in Cottonwood Falls. The Rev. Caude Callison of the Baptist church of Emporia conducted the services. Miss. Margaret Simmons was the organist. Mrs. Phillip Beyers, Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Hubbard, Mrs. Harry Briggs, Mrs. Wayne Morey, Mrs. Charles Waters, Miss. Edna Briggs and Mrs. Frank Garrison sang, accompanied by Mrs. Claude Callison. The pall bearers were Fred Swenson, Charles Selves, Ronald Carter, Homer Hancock, Jack Buffington, and Owen Eaton. Interment was in the Strong City cemetery Charles Andrew Klotz, son of David and Emma Klotz was born near Welda, Anderson county, Kansas, on February 26, 1882 and passed away on August 18, 1953 at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 23 days. He married Jennie Elizabeth Ewing of Strong City, February 23, 1910. They were the parents of one daughter and three sons. He had been a well known farmer in Chase county for the past forty years. Mr. Klotz is survived by his wife, Jennie, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Juanita Elder, Campbell, Mo., three sons, Eugene Klotz, Los Angeles, Calif., Herschel Klotz, Saffordville, Kans.; Russel Klotz, Saffordville, Kans.; two granddaughters, 6 grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, one brother, Ralph Klotz, Emporia Kans.; one sister, Mrs. Lulu Caress, Clements, Kans., and many nieces, nephews and friends. Those who are out of the county who were here to attend the funeral were as follows: sons, Russell Klotz, Altamont and Gene Klotz of Los Angeles; daughter, Mrs. Kelly Elder and family, of Campbell, Missouri, Floyd Carress, Bob and Dan Elder of St. Louis, Pat and Harry Ewing, of Colorado, Lyle Klotz and daughter, Salt Lake City, Utah, Emmett Caress, Independence, Ks., Gerald Powell and family, Bonner Springs, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Lind, Dodge City, Virgil Klotz and family, Wichita, Mr. and Mrs. David Klotz of Sedgwick, and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Klotz of Coffeyville.
