(Tag) Pruitt, a well known former Crisfield resident, died in a hospital in Philadelphia on Monday, the result of an accident on the street. He was 62 years of age. While full details of the accident are not known, the report is that Mr. Pruitt was struck by a street car and so seriously injured that he died a short time later. He was the son of the late Elijah Pruitt and Cornelia Sterling Pruitt, of the Asbury section, and was born and raised here. Mr. Pruitt was for many years engaged in the tailoring and cleaning and pressing business, in Crisfield and elsewhere. At one time he was employed by Mr. Frank Jones, merchant tailor, in the downtown section of Crisfield. He was a musician also, and derived much pleasure from playing in orchestra and bands organized locally. While in the cleaning and pressing business in Crisfield his shop was a gathering place for many of his friends, where questions of all kinds were argued and discussed. A prolific reader, Mr. Pruitt had decided and intelligent opinions on many subjects. While an engaging personality, and a friendly manner, he made many warm friends everywhere he went, and news of his death came as a shock to this community where he spent so many years of his life. Funeral services were held yesterday, Thursday afternoon, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. J. T. Rowlenson, pastor of Asbury Methodist Church. Interment was in the family lot in Asbury cemetery. He is survived by two brothers, William H. Pruitt, of Crisfield, and Sherman Pruitt, of California, and five sisters, Mrs. Fannie Todd, of Crisfield, Mrs. Amy Sterling, of Philadelphia, Mrs. Mabel Lewis of Pocomoke City, Mrs. Blanche Sterling of Crisfield, and Mrs. Viola Nicholson of Petersburg, Va.
