Description	:	Died, at Chester, Neb., on Saturday last, Nov,. 30th, of dropsy, Charles Blanchard, aged 63. Deceased was for a number of years a resident of this city and a brother of Mr. E. Blanchard, who now resides here. He was born in Genesee county (sic), N.Y., and from there went to Wisconsin, where he resided until coming to Republic county (sic) in 1870. He united with Belleville Lodge No. 96 I.O.O.F. in that year and lived an honorable and upright life and was a consistent and worthy member of the order until the day of his death.... About thirty members of the Belleville Lodge I.O.O.F. went to Chester and took charge of the remains, and, assisted by members of the Ida, Hubbell, Chester and Hebron lodges interred them according to the rites of the order. The bereaved family of the deceased have the sympathy of their many friends in this their sad hour of bereavement. ====================== Chester Herald (Chester, NE), Friday, December 5, 1890; pg. 4 DIED. — Charles Blanchard died at his residence in this place last Saturday aged 63 years. He had been unable to to work at his trade for a longtime and was confined to his for several months. The last time he was down town was on election day, when he was brought to the polls in a buggy to vote for the prohibition amendment. He was a prominent member of the I.O.O.F., holding his membership at Belleville. His funeral took place on Sunday afternoon and was conducted according to the ritual of that Order. The exercises at the house were attended by a large number of people and were very brief. The address was delivered by A. E. Taylor, of Belleville. The Odd Fellows of Chester, Hebron and Belleville were well represented, the delegation from the latter place numbering about fifty. The long procession slowly proceeded to the cemetery where the last sad rites were observed by the brothers of the Order. Uncle Charlie, as he we familiarly called, had many good qualities and made hosts of friends. The sympathies of all are with the bereaved family.
