On July 22, 1896, at the home of his mother in Chester, G.W. Blanchard died of consumption in the 31st year of his age. He leaves a wife and one daughter. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at the M.E. church (sic), conducted by Rev. Hindman. Mr. Blanchard and family made an overland trip to northern Arkansas this spring in the hope that a change of climate would benefit his failing health.
