LORETTA BLANCHARD [aged 75 years, 9 months and 20 days] Loretta Burgess was born February 29, 1828, at Bennington, Vermont (NOTE: All census records show she was born in the state of New York) and married Charles Blanchard at Alden in the same state, February 27, 1850. With her husband she moved to Wisconsin about 1856, and from there to Republic county (sic), Kansas, in 1871. LORETTA BLANCHARD [aged 75 years, 9 months and 20 days] Loretta Burgess was born February 29, 1828, at Bennington, Vermont (NOTE: All census records show she was born in the state of New York) and married Charles Blanchard at Alden in the same state, February 27, 1850. With her husband she moved to Wisconsin about 1856, and from there to Republic county (sic), Kansas, in 1871. They were pioneers and saw this country develop almost from a wilderness to a thickly settled commonwealth. In the fall of 1886 they moved to Chester, Nebraska, where Mr. Blanchard died November 29, 1903. (NOTE: He passed away November 30, 1890) She departed this life December 19, 1903, aged 75 years, 9 months 20 days. To the couple were born seven children, four of whom are now living and all reside in this village. They are: - Mrs. Alice Simpson, Mrs. Frances M. Spafford, Charles and Sylvester J. Blanchard, and these, together with a granddaughter, Stella, daughter of Wesley Blanchard, deceased, who has made her home with her grandmother for several years past, are called upon to mourn her loss. Nearly all her life she has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church (sic), but of late years poor health has prevented her entering into active relationship. She was an ardent and enthusiastic Odd Fellow, being a member of the Rebekah degree in the Star of Hope Lodge No. 117, of Chester. The funeral services were held in the Chester Methodist Episcopal church (sic) on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. E.M. Furman, after which the remains were born to the Chester cemetery (sic), under escort of a delegation from the Chester Lodge No. 135, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and the Star of Hope Lodge 117, Degree of Rebekah, and the poor, tired and spent body was laid to rest under the ritualistic funeral exercises of the Rebekah's where it will rest until the ressurrection (sic) morn, when the stone shall roll away and the mortal shall put on immortality and we shall all stand in the newness of life, dressed in a robe of _____less (NOTE: unreadable complete word) white, purged from all sin and purified, we shall stand before the throne and cry: "Holy! Holy! Holy!"
