Read More	UNITY - Charles E. "Jim" Murch Jr. of Unity passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at home, the same home he was born in 87 years earlier. Jim was born Sept. 26, 1922, the son of Charles E. and Kate (McKay) Murch Sr. He graduated from Unity High School and was class salutatorian. Jim dedicated himself to his community. He served as a town official in Unity for more than 20 years. He and his older brother Ken operated the family farm for many years. In his younger years, Jim drove a school bus and delivered mail on several rural routes. Jim was a member of Unity Church of Christ, a member of the Mayflower Society, and was involved with the Unity Historical Society. He very much enjoyed visiting family members and traveling; especially enjoyable was his trip to New Zealand. He was predeceased by his parents; his infant daughter, Deborah Charlotte Murch; his daughter, Dianna May Carson; his brothers, Kenneth and Carlton Murch; and his sister, Olive Ridlon. Jim will be sadly missed by his children, Bonnie Shibles and her husband, Ken, of Thorndike, Shirley "Cricket" Murch of Mesa, Ariz., and Michael Murch and his wife, Janet, of Winterport; his grandchildren, Angela and Willie England, Belinda and Doug Testerman, Anthony and Marcy Gushee, Brandi and Greg Taylor, SueAnne Carson, Emily Littlefield, and Josh Littlefield; his great-grandchildren, William, Brandon, Morgan, Brian, Stephan, Noah, Sassi, Job, Jonas, and a little one on the way; and many nieces and nephews, especially Ken for going above and beyond with his assistance and care for his uncle. Visiting hours will be from noon to 2 p.m. with a funeral service to begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, at the Unity Centre for the Performing Arts, Depot Street in Unity. Spring burial will be at Pond Cemetery in Unity. (Morning Sentinel 12/29/2009)
