Read More	George Jones was born October 27, 1918 to Lewis Vincent and Barbara Elizabeth Blackwood Jones on a farm near Simpson, Kansas. He departed this life of 92 years, 11 months, and 12 days late Saturday evening, October 8, 2011 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas. George, as he was known by all, grew up in the Simpson area and graduated from Simpson High School in the Class of 193? On August 31, 1940, he married Anna Eva Wiscinsci at Glasco and to this union were born two children Robert and Patricia. They made their home in Glasco. There, George ran the Glasco Dry Cleaners for about two years and then he became employed at the Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America Distribution plant east of Glasco, starting as a pit oiler and working his way to the position of chief plant operator. Besides work, George enjoyed his family and community. He was very passionate about Boy Scouts and was instrumental in getting the TrailCraft Canoe Expedition to Canada's boundary waters organized. He was always proud of the accomplishments of his daughter and son. George loved nature and looked forward to the next boating trip as well as hunting and fishing. Quieter moments were happiest spent woodworking, refinishing furniture, and working in his garden. George was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Coast Guard. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Glasco American Legion, Glasco Senior Center, and served on the Cloud County Council for Aging. His wife Anna died in 1989. In addition, George was preceded in death by his parents, one son Robert who died in 2008; brothers John and Vincent Jones, and sisters Catherine Bond and Margaret Davidson. Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his daughter Patricia Jones of the home in Glasco; daughter-in-law Judea Jones of Idaho Falls, Idaho; two grandchildren Brandi Jones and Cass Jones, and a host of many relatives and friends. In addition, George will be deeply missed by his beloved ShihTzu McKenzie. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 13, 2011 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Glasco Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Nicol Home or charity of the donor's choice.
