Born April 5, 1904 in Oklahoma, he lived his early life there. On Nov. 4, 1924, he married Eula Shull in Texas. They lived in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado prior to coming to Washington state in 1942. They moved to Bridgeport in 1946. Mr. Hammons was town marshal and water superintendent for the town of Bridgeport for several years. He also had an orchard on the Bridgeport Bar until the raising of the Wells Dam Reservoir. Following his wife's death in 1959, he owned and operated an orchard in Black Pine Canyon in the Methow Valley. On June 13, 1965, he married Quintila Vega in Mexico City, Mexico. Since 1971, Wenatchee has been their home. Survivors include his wife at the home; four sons, Paul, Seattle, Charles H., Jr., Bridgeport, David H., Post Falls, Idaho and Francisco V., at the home; seven daughters, Pauline U Abbott and Anna Shaw, both of Brewster, Marilyn Enfeld, Twisp, Virginia Holmes, Walla Walla, Fae Davidson and Patricia Ellis, both of Wenatchee and Juanita V. Hammons, at the home; three brothers, Mark, Oklahoma, Julius, Bakersfield, Calif., and D. T. Hammons, Rice; one sister, Dorothy Warren, Colorado; 31 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Imogene Giesen. Holy Rosary was recited Friday evening at 7:30 in Telford's Chapel of the Valley. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday at 1 pm in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wenatchee with the Rev. Richard J. O'Connor celebrant.
