Funeral services were held at the A. O. Clark home and at St. Paul's Evangelical church in Loup City last Saturday for Mr. Charles Schwaderer, long time Sherman county resident. Mr. Schwaderer ended his own life by hanging at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herbert Plambeck last Thursday afternoon. Rev. Burkle conducted the funeral rites. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery. Charles Jacob Schwaderer was born in Germany, Sept. 3, 1862, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herbert Plambeck, on Sept. 22, at the age of 76 years and 19 days. At the age of 17 years, he came to America and settled on St. Joseph, Mo. In 1883, he was united in marriage to Agnes Deschker, who passed away in January, 1887. Two children were born to this union, Martha Rensink of Rocky Ford, Colo., and Carl Schultz of Independence, Mo. On January 17, 1889, he was united in marriage to Mary Kley at Atchinson [sic], Kans. Twelve children were born to them, one of whom died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Schwaderer and family came to Sherman county in 1894, where they made their home on a farm southwest of Loup City. In the true spirit of prairie pioneers the Schwaderers faced severe and prolonged droughts and despite these early hardships, built up the home and reared a family of substantial community citizens. Both Mr. Schwaderer and his wife, were active members in the St. Paul's Evangelical church in Loup City. Mr. Schwaderer supported the church and attended regularly until recent years when ill-health prevented. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen lodge. Ill-health has been his lot since 1931, when he underwent an operation for cancer of the stomach in Rochester, Minn. In July, 1937, his second wife passed away and this brought about the breakup of the home on the family homestead. Mr. Schwaderer has since made his home with his daughters. The loss of his wife was a great blow to him and added a considerate burden to his lingering illness. He is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. O. A. Clark, Mrs. Ferdinand Kuhl, Mrs. Wm.
