Read More	He was born Johann Karl Georg Landgraf. ------------ Scotia Register, Thursday, April 1, 1943, #11, pg.1: Following an illness of a few days, Charles Landgraf died at his home in Scotia at 9:30 Tuesday night. He had been at Grand Island and came home last Thursday evening, being quite ill at that time. Although able to be up a part of the time, his condition grew steadily more critical until his death. Two physicians from the ordnance plant came to Scotia Tuesday to examine him. He had been a sufferer from heart trouble for some time, which, with complications, was the cause of his death. For many years Mr. Landgraf operated a general merchandise store in Scotia. More recently he had been employed by the railroad. At one time he was a member of the Scotia Village board and in later years he has served as police magistrate. Mr. Landgraf who would have been 65 in June, received a full measure of enjoyment from his splendid family of whom he was most proud. He leaves, besides his widow, six children, Mrs. C. H. Menze of Gresham, Mrs. Guy Sautter of Scotia, Mrs. Richard Varner of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Eldor Splittgerber of Albion, Edward Landgraf, in naval officers' training at Tucson, Arizona, and Mrs. Gerald Thomas of Racine, Wis. and a brother, Rev. Wm. Landgraf of Hastings. Mrs. Richard Varner is unable to come to Scotia for the funeral because of the illness of their baby, and Edward cannot get leave from the Navy. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at the Zion Lutheran Church in Scotia at 2:00 conducted by the pastor, Rev. A. H. Wagner and will be proceeded by brief rites for the family at the home. Internment will be in the Scotia cemetery. Miller's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. ---------- The Scotia Register, Apr. 8, 1943, #12, pg. 1: Charles John George Landgraf was born in Decatur, Ill., on June 8, 1878, and departed this life last Tuesday evening at the age of 64 years, six months, and 22 days. During his life he received a full measure of enjoyment from his family, of whom he was most proud. He moved with his parents to St. Louis county in 1888. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on Aug. 14, 1892 and attended St. Paul's College at Concordia (Mo) from 1891-1894 when the family moved to Deshler, Nebraska. On Oct. 2, 1901 he was united in marriage to Miss Louisa Thom at Ravenna, Nebr. To this union were born five daughters and two sons, one having died in infancy. In 1908 he moved to Scotia, Nebr. where he resided until the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his death his widow, five daughters, Mrs. C. H. Menze of Gresham, Nebr., Mrs. Guy Sautter of Scotia, Nebr., Mrs. Richard Varner of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Eldor Splittgerber of Albion, Nebr., and Mrs. Gerald Thomas of Racine, Wisc., one son, Edward, now in naval officer's training school at Tucson, Ariz., one brother, Rev. Wm. Landgraf of Hastings, seven grandchildren, and in addition, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant son, a brother and a sister.
