Linwood was a graduate of Gaynor High School, a veteran serving as a corporal during World War II in the United States Army, and a member of the Pickering United Methodist Church. Preceding him in death were his parents; and one son, Lowell Birkenholz. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Birkenholz, of the home; two sons, Lawrence (Karen) Birkenholz, Independence, Mo. and Louis (Cheryl) Birkenholz, Hopkins; grandchildren, Charles (Denise) Birkenholz, Norfolk, VA, Mick (Robin) Birkenholz, Mount Ayr, Iowa, Kurt (Amber) Birkenholz, Henderson, Nev., Jesse and Leslie Birkenholz, Hopkins; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at the Pickering United Methodist Church. Burial: White Oak Cemetery, Pickering. Military services will be provided by the James Edward Gray American Legion Post 100, Maryville, Mo. and the Missouri Military Honor Program. Family and friends are invited to a time of fellowship and a luncheon at the pickering community center beginning at 11:30 a.m., after the burial. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his Pickering Methodist Church, the Union township Community Building or the White Oak Cemetery.
