The remains were brought here over the U.P.R.R. at 11 o'clock yesterday and the funeral held at 3:30 p.m. from the Smith residence in this city, Reverend W.B. Alexander officiating. Interment was made in Sunrise Cemetary. The deceased was born March 11, 1851 at Boscobel, Wis., and was consequently past 61 years of age. He came to Nebraska about 1876 and engaged in farming. In 1879 he was united in marriage to Letitia Cameron at Wahoo, Neb. To this this union four children were born, who with the widow residing here, all survive him. They are Alta Smith of North Dakota: Mrs. Nettie Dayton of Clinton, Okla.: Mrs. Mable Keen of Greenleaf, Kansas, and Guy Smith of Washington. In addition he leaves three brothers and one sister, as follows: Alva of South Omaha: Otis of Kearney: Frank of Los Angeles, California and Mrs. J.H. Ellison of Marietta precinct. All were present at the funeral except for sons Alta and Guy and the brother Frank. In 1882 the deceased moved from the farm to Wahoo and for a number of years ran a livery barn here. He became well known in the county as generous, whole souled man, but of late years had spent his time with his married daughters when not in the hospital, which was a good part of the time, as he suffered from an incurable complaint that threatened death at any time.
