He had been in poor health many years and an invalid for the past two and one-half years. He was born January 8, 1878 in Leige, Belgium, the son of Charles and Minnie Nimtz. His parents first located in Illinois and when a boy eight years of age, they moved to What Cheer, where his father worked in the coal mines for five years. They later moved to a farm North-east of What Cheer, where Mr. Nimtz spent his childhood days. When a young man he was confirmed in the Lutheran church east of What Cheer. He later transferred his membership to the Kennersburg Methodist church, where he remained a member until the church discontinued their services. He then transferred his membership to the Keswick Methodist church. On April 24, 1901, he was married to Anna Brandenburg of the Keenersburg cmmunity. They farmed in that locality until 1946, when he retired from the farm and moved to Sigourney. Surviving besides his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Henry Rosenboom of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Mrs. William Cuddy, south ward principal in Sigourney; two sons, Karl of Sigourney and Albert at home; three grandchildren; three sisters and one brother.
