Mr. Andrews is survived by wife, Gladys; his mother, Mrs. Hattie Andrews, in Denver, Colorado; two daughters, Mrs. Arzelle Hill of Los Angeles, California and Mrs. Jeanne Abbott of Hawaii; one step-son, Charles Smith of Waterloo; one step-daughter, Mrs. Arnold (Helen) Osenga of Cresco; one brother, Rudy Andrews of Stanhope; and one sister, Olive, in Denver, Colorado; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Andrews died on January 7 in Cresco. Dayton Review January 18, 1962 Charles S. Andrews Services Held Jan. 10 Charles Samuel Andrews, son of John and Harriett (Johnson) Andrews, was born July 19, 1884 in Hamilton County near Stratford, Iowa. He received his education in the East Marion school near Stratford and grew to young manhood on the family farm. On February 3, 1909 he was united in marriage with Tena Linn. To this union two daughters were born. They are Mrs. Arzelle Hill, Los Angeles, California and Mrs. Jeanne Kaailau, Honolulu, Hawaii. She preceded him in death in 1929. He was engaged in farming near Stratford until 1941 when he and his family moved to a farm near Cresco. Then in 1945 he moved to Waterloo and was employed by the Rath Packing Co. until October 1952 when he retired and returned to Cresco, Iowa. Surviving are his widow; his mother, Mrs. Hattie Andrews, Denver, Colorado; his two daughters and two step children, Helen, Mrs. Arnold Osenga, Cresco; and Charles D. Smith, Waterloo. Surviving also are a sister Olive, Mrs. J.E. Seaman, Denver, Colorado; and a brother Rudy of Stratford. There are seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and five step grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his father, his wife, and a sister, Cora, Mrs. Tom Ferguson, and a grandson Michael Hill. Funeral services were held at Calvary Methodist Church at Stratford, Iowa, Wednesday, January 10 at 2 p.m. Burial was in the South Marion Cemetery Friday, January 12 at 10 a.m. The Rev. Harold N. Olson, Minister of the Calvary Methodist Church at Stratford was in charge of the services on both Wednesday and Friday.
