Charles Barwick was seriously injured about the head this afternoon when he stepped in front of an auto driven by H.D. Hawthorne of Martinsburg in front of the E.M. Robertson feed store on South Washington. He stepped from one of the Bollinger express wagons directly in front of the machine which threw him to the pavement. The death of Charles Barwick who struck by an automobile Saturday afternoon Saturday night at 11:30 o'clock at St. Joseph's Hospital. While alighting from a Bollinger express wagon which he was driving Mr. Barwick was struck and knocked down by an automobile driven by H.D. Hawthorne of Martinsburg, receiving a fracture at the base of the skull which caused his death. Survived by wife, Lilly, six children, Ada, Sherman, Eugene, Blanche, Dorothy and Florence. The funeral services at 2 o'clock from the family residence in Mowery's Addition, South Ottumwa.
