Mr. Zimmerman has been in poor health for more than a year and suffered from heart trouble. That the end would come soon was realized long before his death. About three weeks ago he was quite sick and the end was expected most any time but he recovered and last week was able to be out and drove to Mason City. He took suddenly worse and on Thursday evening about eleven he quietly went to sleep, from which he never awakened. Charles Wellington Zimmerman was born in the state of Ohio on February 22, 1875, and died at his home in Austin, Sherman County, Nebraska, on June 11, 1931, aged 56 years, 3 months and 19 days. He was united in marriage in June 1904, to Miss Luella Welch, of Litchfield, Nebraska, to which union were born five children, four boys and one girl, all of whom survive him. The children are: Claude, Elva, Lester, Ray, and Harold, all at Austin. He is survived by his wife and three brothers, and two sisters. They are: William D. Zimmerman of Cambridge, Nebraska, Oliver Zimmerman, of San Diego, California, and John Zimmerman, also of California. The sisters are: Mrs. George Ross of Page, Nebraska and a sister, Senora of Ohio, whose surname is unknown. Besides his immediate family he has many other relatives, uncles, aunt and cousins. Mr. Zimmerman's occupation was farming, which he pursued all his life. He farmed a number of years in Ohio and Wisconsin, but the past eight years he lived on a farm near Austin. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Austin and at one time was superintendent of their Sunday school and also a teacher part of the time. One cannot pay too high a tribute to Mr. Zimmerman, he was honest in his dealings, he was respected by his neighbors and always had the welfare of others at heart and ever ready to do a kindly deed. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Presbyterian Church in Loup City in charge of Rev. L. M. Harwood and interment was in Evergreen cemetery, where the I. O. O. F. lodge conducted the last sad rites. The church was filled to capacity to pay their respect to a departed friend and neighbor.
