Description	:	Charles Wiens, 78, Beatrice, died Sunday, November 02, 2008 at his home. He was born August 30, 1930 at the Beatrice Mennonite Hospital. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1948 and worked on the family farm until he was drafted into the army in 1952 for the Korean War. He was born August 30, 1930 at the Beatrice Mennonite Hospital. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1948 and worked on the family farm until he was drafted into the army in 1952 for the Korean War. He married Belva Allerheiligen in 1954 and to this union were born three daughters. In 1978 he married Shirley (Holz) Dragoo and three step-daughters were added to the family. He continued farming in the Beatrice area until his retirement in 1998. His loves were his family, farming and John Deere tractors. Charles was a member of the Bitting-Norman American Legion Post 27, F.O. Eagles Aerie 531, Blue Valley Antique Club, Gage County Historical Society, on the Board at the Beatrice Senior Center, and was a life member of the Beatrice Mennonite Church. His survivors include his wife, Shirley of Beatrice; daughters, Marlene Vetrovsky and husband Ron of Beatrice, Connie Madron of Highland, IL, and Lori Grabouski and husband Mike of Beatrice; step-daughters, Tamara Rudman and husband Monte, Julie Cummings and husband Kelly all of Eagle, and DeAnna Duis and husband Kevin of Odell, NE; 12 grandchildren, Brandon Vetrovsky and wife Shannon of Beatrice, Dustin Vetrovsky of Omaha, Dylan Madron of Highland, IL, Niki Schmidt of Beatrice, Bryce Duis and Conner Duis of Odell, Brittany and Courtney Rudman of Eagle, Leslie Cummings and Kelsey Cummings of Eagle, Danny Cummings of Lincoln, Brandy Sunneberg and husband Gary of Beatrice; one great- granddaughter, Kennedy Belknap; brothers, Marvin Wiens and wife Marilyn, Ron Wiens and wife Kay all of Beatrice; sister-in-law Betty Krause and husband Duane of Tecumseh; brother-in-law, Wayne Holz and wife Dr. Lynne of Mission, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Doris (Thimm) Wiens. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at Beatrice Mennonite Church, Beatrice, Nebraska, with Pastor Muriel Kaufman Graber officiating. Family prayer service will be held at 1:15 P.M. on Wednesday at the church. Visitation will be held at the Harman-Wright Mortuary on Tuesday (11/4/08) from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.; then Wednesday at the church one hour preceding the service. Burial will be at the First Mennonite Cemetery, rural Beatrice, Nebraska with a military graveside service by the Bitting-Norman Post 27 of the American Legion. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the family's choice with Joe Thimm in charge. A register book is available online at www.harmanwrightmortuary.com for messages of condolence.
