Mr. Utesch died Wednesday night, March 28, at the home near Akron of his son, Elmer, with whom he had made his home the past two years. The Akron man was said to have been despondent since his wife’s death in 1951. Mr. Utesch was born Jan. 6, 1873, at Sterling, Ill. Survivors include two sons, Frank of Merrill and Elmer of Akron; a daughter, Mrs. Leona Witt of Hawarden; six grandsons and six great-grandchildren. Le Mars Sentinel Wed. Utesch at the home of his son,, Elmer, southwest of town, on Wednesday, March 28, 1956, was briefly mentioned in these columns last week. He attained the age of 83 years, 2 months, and 22 days. Charles Wilhelm Utesch, son of August and Minnie Utesch, was born at Sterling, Illinois, January 6, 1873. He was baptized a few weeks later, and when a small child moved to Plymouth County with his parents. He attended grade school here. He was confirmed July 10, 1904, by Pastor J. F. Christensen in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Johnson Township. He was married to Minnie Jans, September 10, 1898. To this union were born two sons and one daughter. The new bride moved with him into his farm home. Later, they moved into the Akron vicinity, where they lived a number of years. His wife preceded him in death June 9, 1951. He is survived by his sons, Frank, of Merrill, and Elmer, of Akron; a daughter, Leonia Witt, of Hawarden; three brothers, of Le Mars; one sister in San Jose, California; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. One sister and one brother preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pastor Luther A. Meyer officiating.
