Read More	The Franklin Press - 17 March 1932 CRASH FATAL TO C W TEAGUE Truck Overturns Down Bank In Jackson County SON IS UNINJURED Large Crowd Attends Funeral At Union Church Funeral services for Charles W Teague, 57, of Prentiss, one of Macon Counties most outstanding farmers, who was fatally injured Monday in a highway accident, were held at 11 o'clock Wednesday at the Union Methodist church. Mr Teague suffered a fracture of the verterbrae, and compression of the spinal cord when a truck in which he was riding with his son Elmer, overturned on highway no. 285, near Gay, in the Savannah Section of Jackson County, Monday morning. Son Uninjured Elmer Teague, who escaped injury reported that the truck went over an embankment when the wheels slipped on some ice. The truck turned over twice and went 30 feet down an embankment. Mr Teague was taken to a hospital in Sylva, but was removed later in the day to Angel Brothers Hospital in Franklin. His injury left him parylized from the neck down. An operation was deemed inadvisable, but the compression of the spine was somewhat relieved. Mr Teague died about 9 o'clock Tuesday morning. Born in Haywood County Mr Teague was born in Haywood County and came to Macon County in 1908. He was a notable success as a farmer and about two years ago was chosen Master Farmer of the county. Besides running a large farm, he also operated a cannery at Prentiss. At one time he had been manager of the cannery here and for a while served as county road supervisor. He was a member of the Methodist church. He is survived by his widow, Mrs Cumi McCracken Teague; five sons, Ned, Wilbur, Elmer, Woodrow, and Rafe Teague; two daughters, Misses Adeline and Mary Teague; two brothers, the Rev J L Teague, of Franklin, Route 2; and Thomas H Teague of Nashville, Tenn; and five sisters, Mrs C P Wells, Canton; Mrs A T Rogers, Prentiss; Mrs Roberts and Mrs Andy Johnson of the State of Washington; and Mrs Sam Herron of Chicago. Large Funeral The funeral was conducted by the Rev J C Umberger, pastor of Union Church, and the Rev L B Hayes of Waynesville, presiding elder of of the Waynesville district of the Methodist church, assisted by the Rev O P Ader, pastor of the Franklin Methodist church, the Rev J A Flanagan, pastor of the Franklin Presbyterian church, and the Rev H C Freeman, pastor of the Franklin circuit. Nearly a thousand persons attended the last rites, many of them coming from Canton, Waynesville, Weaverville, and other communities. Mr Teague's sons served as pallbearers. -------------------------
