Description	:	Chester Allan Shipman, son of Timothy Crowford and Mary Wilson Shipman, was born June 3, 1902, in Sherman County, Kansas, near Edson, Kansas. He passed away May 17, 1982, at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 14 days. He moved with his family to the Nora community at the age of nine. Read More	Chester Allan Shipman, son of Timothy Crowford and Mary Wilson Shipman, was born June 3, 1902, in Sherman County, Kansas, near Edson, Kansas. He passed away May 17, 1982, at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 14 days. He moved with his family to the Nora community at the age of nine. February 16, 1924, Chester was united in marriage to Minnie Michaud. One son was born to this union. He died in infancy. The Shipmans lived near Hardy for three years and then moved back to the Nora community in 1927. Minnie passed away December 23, 1970, just a few months after they retired to their new home in Superior. Chester joined the Methodist Church in Hardy then transferred his membership to the Nora Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the Nora Methodist Church and had charge of the memorail box at the church for many years. The piano that is now being used in the church was a gift from Chester to the congregation. On June 7, 1973, Chester was united in marriage to Ethel May Harvey. They have made their home in Superior. He was preceded in death by both his parents, his infant son, his wife, Minnie, three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Ethel; two step-sons, Carroll and Dean Harvey; two step-daughters, Lorene Lipker and Donna Petersen; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Effa Shipman of Fairbury and Mrs. Bulah Michaud of Lincoln and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 19, at 2 p.m. at the Nora Methodist Church with Rev. Marion Knoell officiating. Pallbearers were Bill Lynch, Harold Uhrmacher, Loren Renz, Gene Holsteen, Leonard Erickson and Bobbie Michaud. "How Great Thou Art" and "When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder" were sung by Helen Gebers and Lillian Thayer with Melba Lynch as pianist. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior.
