Friday evening death took from this place Mrs. Hester B. Stevens. . .Chester Fisher, son of Joseph and Nancy Fisher was born in Portage county, Ohio in 1839 and came to Michigan with his parents at the age of six years, the family driving through the then heavy forests, inhabited by the Indians and wild beast. His parents located in Berrien township, and he lived there until about 45 years ago when he moved to the farm on which his son Anson Fisher now resides. In 1860, Mr. Fisher was united in marriage to Miss Matilda Murphy, of which union two children survive him, his wife having preceded him to the other world, nine years ago. Anson residing on home place and Mrs. Etta Knight of Weesaw township, he also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Jan Webster of this place and Mrs. Ella Armstrong of Berrien Center and a brother Joseph. Mr. Fisher will be missed by a very large number of people here, for a question of any date of years ago arising, Mr. Fisher was considered reliable for the information, and could also give all connecting links. Only Monday in talking with his son Anson, he told of the condition of the weather 50 years ago, how it was such a rainy week. For the past seven years Mr. Fisher has been totally blind and was partially blind for several years previous, his eyes being effected[sic] by cataracts. Mr. Fisher had only been confined to his home for about a week, passing a way yesterday morning, although he had been failing since about election time. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Lutheran church with Rev. Bixler officiate.[sic] Interment will take place at East Union.
