Read More	Obituary for Chester Marcus McNeese: CHESTER MCNEESE DIES IN A CRASH Failed To Make Turn On The Highway Near Batavia And Into The Ditch Chester McNeese 20 years old was killed at midnight Saturday when the speeding car in which he was riding failed to make the turn at Whitmore corner 2 1/2 miles east of Batavia on the Harding highway. His neck and back were broken when the car went into the ditch and turned over twice. Ed Woods driver of the car. He received a few minor scratches. McNeese was pinned under the car and was taken out by other motorist who stopped at the scene. Sheriff Charles G. Butcher was called and he and Dr. W.T. Webb, coroner, went at once to the scene, but it was not thought necessary to hold an inquest. The body was brought back in the Sheriff's car to the Murrary-Jones undertaking palors. McNeese and Woods left Fairfield after 11 oclock to go to Ottumwa and were riding in a new coupe which Woods had just bought. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 oclock at the Baptist church in charge Rev. W.C. Monroe and interment will be in Evergreen cemetery where a military ceremony will be carried out by members of the Service company of which he was a member. Fairfield Ledger, April 19, 1926, P1
