CHRIS STUCKY Chris Stucky was born in Canton, Bern, Switzerland, February 24, 1850 and departed this life October 11, 1929 at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 17 days. He waas confirmed in the German Lutheran Church in Bern, Switzerland at the age of sixteen years. He was married to Miss Ann Elizabeth Grossenbacher, June 11, 1869 and in September 1870 they came to America, coming to Richardson County, Nebraska. He has spent most of his life in the DuBois community. To this union were born seven children, two dying in infancy. His wife preceded him in death in 1881. He leaves to mourn his departure three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Jake Habegger and Fred Stucky of duBois, Nebr., Mrs. John Habegger and Chris Stucky of Bern, Kan. and Mrs. Ed Bestwick of Kensington, Kan.; also fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Habegger home at 1 o'clock October 13, at the United Brethren Church at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. L. A. Roger. Interment in the DuBois cemetery. COURIER TRIBUNE, Seneca, Kansas, Monday, October 21, 1929. Page 1. Old Man Takes Poison Christ Stuckey, Sr., 79, ended his life early the morning of October 11, by drinking poison. He had been staying first at one place and then another for some time and his death occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jake Habegar. He was seventy-nine years and seven months old. The motive for his last act is unknown as nothing in his conversation or manner indicated that he contemplated self obstruction. Funeral services were held in DuBois Sunday afternoon. -Bern Gazette ************************************************************* Page 7- The funeral of Chris Stucky, Sr. was held in DuBois last Sunday.
