Read More	Died at the home of her son Ed Collins Concordia Empire Concordia, Kansas Thursday, March 18, 1915 page 4 Obituary Christiana Betzner Reed Collins was born in Whittenberg, Germany, July 9, 1835 and would have been 80 years old this coming July. She came over to America in 1839 when she was but 4 years old, in a sailing ship which took nine months to make the trip, which can be made now in less than a week. She was converted while a child and united early in life and was baptized in the First Baptist church of Concordia in 1902. She was married in 1853 to Joan Corneilius Reed and to this union were born eight children, but only six are living. Joan Corneilius Reed died in 1868 and she was again married in 1871 to Wm. Collins. To this union were born 4 children, but only two are living. Wm. Collins died in 1876. Mrs. Collins was one of the oldest settlers in Kansas, coming here in 1859 and settled near what is now called Manhattan. They moved later to Cloud county in 1876. Mrs. Collins was a faithful wife and a good mother and leaves a great many relatives and friends to mourn her death. She took sick at the home of her son who lives a few miles west of Concordia and died last Saturday morning at 8:00 o'clock, March 13. (transcribed by Judy Mayfield) June 2020
