Funeral services will be held this afternoon from the home at 1:30 and the remains will be laid to rest in the Swede Bend cemetery. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Stratford Courier June 19, 1924 OBITUARY Lindmark Christine Josephine Steele was born in Horn socken, Östergötland, Sweden on April 28, 1845, and died here on June 8, 1924, at the ripe old age of 79 years, 1 month, 10 days. She came to America from her native land in 1868 and after living for about a year in Henry county, Ills., she came to this section of Iowa and located in the Swede Bend community. After a residence of about a year here she was married to Charles Lindmark of the same community in 1870 and shortly afterwards they moved onto the farm on which they have lived continuously since. Six children were born to them of which all are living with the exception of the eldest, Selma, who passed away twenty-four years ago. The others are: Ernest; Alpha (Mrs. Tony Frederickson); Arthur, Emory, all of this place, and Vera (Mrs. Coy Smith) of Wells, Minn. These, together with the aged husband and father, eight grandchildren, other relatives and a large number of friends, mourn the death of this good Christian woman. For many years deceased had been in failing health and during the past year was bedridden all the time. And though she suffered she bore those sufferings with real Christian fortitude and courage and never complained of her lot. They are passing, these old pioneer settlers of Iowa, until soon there will be none of them left to recite to their grand children the tales of the early day when they came to this new and fertile state. Yet it is their lives and the hardships which they suffered in tilling the soil and the privations which was theirs that has made history and Iowa. Funeral services were held from the farmstead south of town Thursday afternoon of last week and were conducted by Rev. Callerstrom of Ogden. Interment was made in the Swede Bend cemetery.
