Mrs. Hughes, the former Christine Margaret Hausam, was born November 15, 1901, at Concordia, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Hausam. The family moved to Emporia in 1916 and Christin Hausam was graduated from Emporia High school in 1919 and from Emporia State college in 1923. She taught school at Chanute, Junction City, Hutchinson and Emporia, and on June 16, 1933 she married Philip H. Hughes. They moved to Kansas City in 1938 and Mrs. Hughes died advertising work for Adler's, Harzfeld's and Mindlin's before moving to Texas in 1948. She is survived by her husband; her mother, Mrs. L. H. Hausam, 613 State; two sisters, Mrs. Calvin Lambert, 1526 Dover Road, and Mrs. Arthur Kreuzer, Kansas City, Kan.; a nephew, Louie Kreuzer, and a niece, Jeanne Lambert. Her father, L. H. Hausam, died in 1941. Mrs. Hughes was a member of the First Congregational church and of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority at Emporia State. While living at Emporia she did advertising work for Newman's and The Gazette.
