Hausam, 613 State, died at her home this morning at 4:30 o'clock. She was the wife of the late L. H. Hausam, who developed the Hausam Penmanship system in wide vogue in public schools during his later years. Mrs. Hausam, the former Effie May Roper, was born March 6, 1871, in Jasper county, Mo. She was the daughter of the late Charles Lewis Roper, a native of Louisville, Ky., and Margaret Elizabeth Laws Roper, who was born in Donnelson, Ill. She attended the Fort Scott Teachers college two years as a young woman, and married Louis Henry Hausam August 23, 1893, at Girard. The marriage ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. P. Volmer. The Hausam family lived in many places before coming to Emporia in 1916. They had established residences in Salina, Fort Scott, Baxter Springs, Concordia, Riverside, Calif., Denver, Colo., Hutchinson, Nickerson, Topeka, Tonkawa and Blackwell, Okla. Mr. Hausam died January 13, 1941. Survivors are two daughters, Constance (Mrs. Arthur Kreuzer), of Kansas city, Kas., and Clarice (Mrs. Calvin H. Lambert), Emporia. Another daughter, Christine (Mrs. Philip Hughes), died a year ago, and a son, Louis, died at birth. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Louis Kreuzer, of Kansas City, and Jeanne Lambert, Garden City. Mrs. Hausam was a member of the First Congregational church, the Thesaurus Study club and the Logan Avenue club. Funeral services were not announced today.
