She was 78 years old and is survived by two sons and one daughter, Ivyl, of Lafayette, Clyde of Stratford, and Miss Esther of Chicago. Stratford Courier April 20, 1944 Obituary Mrs. J.W. Naylor Last rites for Mrs. J.W. Naylor were held in Calvary Methodist church on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of the pastor, the Rev. J.G. Waterman. An earlier service was held at 1 o'clock in the Foster funeral home in Webster City. At this local service a quartet composed of Sam Swedlund, A.T. Johnson, Mrs. E.J. Bergquist and Miss Minnie Williams, sang three very appropriate hymns. At the close of the service the remains were interred in Oakwood cemetery. Clara Annie McElree, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.B. McElree [Byron McElree and Jane Wolf], was born on a farm near Minburn on Jan. 31, 1865, and died on Easter Sunday, April 9, 1944, at the home of her son, Ivyl Naylor, Fafayette, Ind., at the age of 79 years, 2 months, 8 days. When she was a year old she moved with her parents to a farm 7 miles southwest of Perry where she attended the schools and grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage with J.W. Naylor, March 8, 1892 and they went to housekeeping on a farm near Gowrie. Three years later they moved to a farm near Otho and in 1899 moved to near Stratford which had since been their home ever since. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sept. 7, 1943, b her parents, three brothers and three sisters. Surviving are two sons and one daughter: Ivyl Naylor, Lafayette, Ind., Clyde E. Naylor, Stratford and Miss Esther Naylor of Chicago. There are also two stepchildren, Mrs. Leona Boynton of Webster City and Erwin Naylor of Stratford, as well as 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. When a baby Mrs. Naylor was baptized in the Methodist church and had been a devout member of Calvary Methodist church for 45 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was a life long member and an indefatigable worker in the W.C.T.U. But her first interests were her church and her family and she numbered her friends by her acquaintances. Two years ago Mr. and Mrs. Naylor celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary.
