A former well known and highly respected farmer of this community, he had been in failing health for some years. Surviving are his aged wife, two daughters, Mrs. Leona Boynton, of Webster City and Miss Esther Naylor of Park Ridge, Ill; three sons, Irwin and Clyde of Stratford, and Ivyl of Lafayette. Funeral rites will be held in Calvary Methodist church here tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery. The Rev. J.J. Share, of Webster City, will have charge of the services. Stratford Courier September 16, 1943 Obituary J.W. Naylor John W. Naylor, 86, former Stratford resident, died Sept. 7, at the home of his son, Ivyl Naylor, in Lafayette, Ind., where he had resided the past year. Mr. Naylor, one of a family of eleven children, was the son of Lemuel and Louisa Naylor. He was born Jan. 27, 1857, near Wassau, W.S. In 1862 he moved with his parents to Iowa settling in Delaware county. The family traveled with ox teams and covered wagons. Later they settled near Perry where he grew to manhood. There he was married to Martha Ella Snyder in 1879. She died in 1889. He was married to Clara McElree in 1892 and farmed near Gowrie and Otho. In 1899, they located on a farm near Stratford where they made their home until 1935 when they retired to a home in Stratford. Surviving are his wife, three sons and two daughters, Erwin C., of Stratford, Mrs. LeOnie Boynton, of Webster City, Ivyl E. Naylor, of Lafayette, Ind., Clyde E. Naylor, of Stratford, Esther Naylor, of Chicago, Ill. There are eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters also survive: Mrs. Arabelle N. Billings, of Des Moines, A.L. and V.F. Naylor, of Perry, Mrs. Mae Herrald, of Wadena, Minn. When a young man he was baptized in the Methodist faith and was a faithful member the remainder of his long life. He was a member of Calvary Methodist church in Stratford for 44 years, attending services as long as his health permitted. Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 10 in Calvary Methodist church with the Rev. J.J. Shaare, of Webster City, officiating. The remains were laid to rest in Oakwood cemetery.
