Description	:	Clara Ray was born November 3, 1908 east of Stoddard, NE. She was the daughter of Emil and Jennie Kochi (sic) Baloun. Clara passed from this life Tuesday, March 24, 1998 at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, KS, at the age of 89 years. She was the daughter of Emil and Jennie Kochi (sic) Baloun. Clara passed from this life Tuesday, March 24, 1998 at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, KS, at the age of 89 years. During her childhood Clara lived on a farm east of Hebron, NE, with younger brothers, Henry, Bill and Herman and her sister, Evelyn. She attended Ashton Rural School. On February 11, 1933, she was married to Eugene (Gus) Ray at Hebron and to this union a son, Kenneth was born. Clara helped Gus on the farm and worked at Gallion's Grocery store as a clerk. She worked at Foote's Cafe as a waitress for 23 years, and at the Senior Center in Chester for a short time. Clara was a member of the United Methodist Church in Chester; enjoyed gardening, and loved to play Bingo. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy. Gus and Clara had just celebrated 65 years on marriage on February 11, 1998. Clara was preceded in death by her parents; sister, three brothers, and two grandsons, Jeffry and Jamie Ray. She will be forever remembered by her husband Eugene of the home; son Kenneth and wife Kaye of Belleville, KS; grandchildren Cindy Frye, Belleville, Eugene Ray and wife Christi, Lawrence, KS, and Connie Tallent and husband Tracy, Goose Creek, SC; great-grandchildren, Diamond Frye, Margo and Mallory Ray and Adrian and Andy Tallent; many other relatives and a community of friends. Funeral services were held Friday, March 27, at the United Methodist Church, Chester, with Pastor T.J. Fraser officiating. Organist was Mrs. Pauline Frye. Casket bearers were Don Kasl, Jean Larkins, Willard Rieke, Jack Long, Bill Eickmann, Wallace Mulch and Frank Boyd. Burial was in the Chester Cemetery.
