Clara Belle Ross, daughter of Arza Ross and Martha Davis was born in Montgomery County, Iowa about two miles northeast of Villisca on February 26, 1868 where she grew to womanhood. She moved to Villisca in September 1923,, where she lived continuously until her death. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Villisca 55 years, having united with the church December 18, 1890, under the ministry of Rev. J. F. Campbell. She was a regular attendant and active in the Woman’s Society of Christian Services as long as her health permitted. She was also a member of the GAR Circle in Villisca. She leaves one brother, Frank L. Ross of Adams County, and a number of nieces and nephews. Her mother preceded her in death in 1890, her father in 1920, also three sisters, Emma J. Lieb in 1893, Almeda Oyster in 1917, and Alta N. Eldborg in 1945. He half brother, Orley T. Ross in 1907. Villisca Review, Thursday, July 25, 1946, page 1
