Description	:	Arza Brown Ross A. B. Ross, one of the pioneer citizens of Villisca of Villisca and vicinity died Saturday of last week at about 1:30 at his home on West Fifth Street. Mr. Ross had been a sufferer for many years and for some time had been an invalid. The funeral was held from the Presbyterian Church Monday afternoon at 2:30. C. C. Russell, pastor of that church and local masons had charge of the services. Burial was made in the Villisca Cemetery. Arza Brown Ross was born in Meigs County, Ohio April 22, 1840. His parents shortly after moved to Athens County, Ohio, where they lived until the fall of 1854. In the spring of 1855 he came with his parents of Montgomery County, Iowa, locating near where Villisca is now situated. On August 7, 1862 he was united in marriage to Martha M. Davis to which union five children were born, four daughters and one son. His first wife died November 10, 1899. On September 30, 1890 He was united In marriage to Mrs. Laura E. Netto, to which union one child, a son was born. His oldest daughter, Emma J. Lelb, died December 2, 1893. His youngest son, in whom he had much hope, died June 13, 1907. Another daughter, Mrs. S. W. Oyster died June 29, 1917. Two daughters Miss Clara Ross and Mrs. Alta Phillips, and a son, Frank Ross survive him as do nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. S. A. Phillips. Mr. Ross was treasurer of school township of Jackson, now East, for 33 years; belonged to Montgomery County Lodge No 276, A.F. & A. M. since 1871. He was converted and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in January 1890 and was ordained elder in the Church in February 1895, which office he held during the continuance of the organization.
