Ensign, 91, former Defiance County teacher who lived practically all her life in Farmer Township, died in the Williams County General Hospital, Montpelier, at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Ensign, widow of Walter Ensign who died in December of 1954 and to whom she was married in January 1, 1885, suffered a cerebral hemorrhage on March 19, at the home of a son, Charles Ensign, of Alvordton. Ensign, 91, former Defiance County teacher who lived practically all her life in Farmer Township, died in the Williams County General Hospital, Montpelier, at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Ensign, widow of Walter Ensign who died in December of 1954 and to whom she was married in January 1, 1885, suffered a cerebral hemorrhage on March 19, at the home of a son, Charles Ensign, of Alvordton. The body is at the Perkins and Reeb Funeral Home here where friends may call after noon today. It will be taken to the Farmer Union Church at noon Monday for services at 2 p.m., conducted by the pastor, Rev. Lester McCandlish. Burial will be in Lost Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Ensign was a member of the Lost Creek Presbyterian Church until it disbanded. Since then she had been a member of the Union Church. She was born January 19, 1965, in Stark County, Ohio and when a small child went to Farmer Township with her parents, Peter and Matilda (Spangler) Culler. She attended Farmer Township schools. After she fractured her hip a few years ago, she lived with a daughter, Mrs. Faye Battershell near Hicksville, and after Mrs. Battershell's death December 3, 1954, had lived most of the time with the son at Alvordton. Surviving in addition to the son are 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a brother Charles Culler, of Farmer Township.
