Clara Newkirk was born on the old homestead in Iowa township on June 9, 1885; she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Newkirk, and her education was provided for at old St. John's church. On September 3, 1903, she was united in marriage to Mr. John Glandorf and the home was established on the farm a short distance northeast of Williamsburg. To this union were born three daughters, Mrs. Adolph Wardensburg of York, and Pearle and Ida of the home. Besides the husband and the three daughters, she is survived by five brothers; Edward, Fred C., and David Newkirk of Williamsburg, and August Newkirk of Orange, Calif. Mrs. Glandorf's passing is mourned by all who were familiar with her splendid qualities, and the fidelity with which she met the obligations of wife and mother. For her family, no sacrifice so great as to deter her from its performance--and in its performance she found the keenest pleasure. From her childhood she was well instructed in the tenets of the Ev. Lutheran church, and while her health permitted she was never absent from the Divine worship in which she so plainly recognized the existence of the God in whom she placed all her faith. A good Christian wife, mother, sister, and friend, and to the bereaved family the community extends its heartfelt sympathies. Source: Williamsburg Journal Tribune, December 18, 1930
