Services were held Wednesday, July 27, at St. Paul's Lutheran church with the Rev. Otto Beer of Homestead officiating. Music was by St. Paul's men's quartet, composed of George Petershagen, Oscar Glandorf, Merlin Von Ahsen, and Albert Mews, Jr. Pallbearers were: William Newkirk, Elmer Webert, Walter Newkirk, Vernon Newkirk, Vernon Schwarting, and Otto Iburg. Burial was in Immanuel's cemetery. McSwiggin & Uhlmann Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. He is survived by his wife; two children, Friemond Newkirk of Williamsburg and Mrs Earl Kuch of Van Horne; one brother, Edward Newkirk of Williamsburg; six grandchildren, Bernice Newkirk, Donald Kuch, Leland Kuch, Nadine Kuch, Ruth Ann James, and Donald Kuch, in the armed forces overseas. One son preceded him in death.
