Description	:	Wenatchee World - Wednesday, January 5, 2011 Clara was born on February 28, 1921, west of Mansfield, WA, to William and Nannie (Fowler) Painter. She passed away at the Harmony House in Brewster on January 2, 2011, with her family by her side. She was the fifth of six children born to Wil and Nannie. She attended grade school at Enterprise and attended high school at Withrow. When she was 18 years old, she attended and graduated from Vetter Beauty School in Wenatchee. Read More	Wenatchee World - Wednesday, January 5, 2011 Clara was born on February 28, 1921, west of Mansfield, WA, to William and Nannie (Fowler) Painter. She passed away at the Harmony House in Brewster on January 2, 2011, with her family by her side. She was the fifth of six children born to Wil and Nannie. She attended grade school at Enterprise and attended high school at Withrow. When she was 18 years old, she attended and graduated from Vetter Beauty School in Wenatchee. In 1941, she married George Malone of Mansfield. To this union Myrna and Myron were born. She operated a beauty salon in her home at Mansfield for many years. In 1951, they moved to Foster Creek to begin farming. In 1961, they sold the farm and moved to Farmer, WA, where they bought and operated the Farmer Store, gas station and Post Office, of which Clara was the Postmaster. After the business burned in 1971, they moved to Waterville, where she was employed by the Post Office. She also worked at the hospital in Waterville until it closed. Later, she moved to Leavenworth and worked at the hospital there until returning to Wenatchee. It was there that she met and married Sylvan Thomas in May of 1981. They lived at Bridgeport on Sylvan's ranch until they sold and moved to Wenatchee. During her many years in Wenatchee, she was employed by the Eagle's Lodge as a Receptionist. For 14 years, she cherished the opportunity to meet and greet many people. She has enjoyed the friendships of many of those until her death. In March of 2009, she moved to the Harmony House in Brewster to be closer to her family. Throughout life's journey, she faced each challenge with incredible strength. That strength and her dedication and love for her family will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son, Myron (Marla) Malone and daughter, Myrna (Ken) Greninger, all of Mansfield; grandchildren, Daryl Greninger of Moses Lake, Dalene (Greninger) Waage of Gig Harbor, Michelle (Malone) Marden of Orondo and Marty Malone of Spokane; five great-grandsons; six great-granddaughters; four nephews; and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; sister, Edna Jensen; brother, Orville Painter; sister, Lois Wise; sister, Vera Petersen; and brother, Dale Painter. No Funeral will be held at this time, but Interment will be at Mansfield Cemetery. A Family Gathering is scheduled to be held later. For those who wish, a Viewing at the Waterville Funeral Home is being held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
