With her parents, she emigrated to America in 1862, and settled in Boone County, Iowa, where she resided until her marriage to C. Axel Gabrielson, June 22, 1882. Read More	Dayton Review December 5, 1935 Obituary Clara Matilda Nelson, daughter of Anna Samuelson and Jonas Nelson, was born in Östergötland, Sweden, May 9, 1857, and passed away at her home in Dayton, Iowa, November 29, 1935, at the age of 78 years, 6 months, 20 days. With her parents, she emigrated to America in 1862, and settled in Boone County, Iowa, where she resided until her marriage to C. Axel Gabrielson, June 22, 1882. With her husband, she located on their farm four miles west of Dayton, where she lived thirty-six years. Here her children were all born. Two, Carl and Vina, died in infancy, Verner E. passed away in 1932. In the spring of 1918, she and her husband moved into Dayton, where she has since made her home. On June 22, 1932, she and her husband celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary, and she has since often talked of the kindness of their many friends on that day. Mrs. Gabrielson was a member of the first confirmation class of the Dayton Lutheran Church, being confirmed under Rev. Ransen on February 11, 1872. She has continuously held her membership there since that time, a period of sixty-three years. She is survived by her husband and five children: Mrs. Hattie Lidvall of Boxholm; Mrs. Amy Bloom and Van Gabrielson, both of Dayton; Mrs. Callie Payn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Victor Gabrielson, now on the old home farm, out Harcourt way. There are also four grandchildren. Mrs. Gabrielson ever took an active interest in her church, in her family, and in her community. She was active always in behalf of each, and her children were inspired by her example to be always ready to help in every good movement. She passes with the utmost respect of all who knew her in the long and active life she has spent among us. Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon from the Gabrielson home, in charge of her pastor, Rev. Waldo Ekeberg, who delivered the sermon. The Lutheran church quartet, consisting of Mrs. B.I. Lundberg, Miss Hilma Johnson, Frank Peterson, and Ernest Johnson, sang the songs she had requested for her funeral, "No Night There," and "The Haven of Rest." Pallbearers were O.F. Green, W.O. Forsberg, Albert Bloomquist, Oscar Ehen, Oscar F. Peterson and A.L. Holmstrom. She was laid to rest in Dayton cemetery where the quartet sang "The Old Rugged Cross," and Pastor Ekeberg read the commital service.
