The former Clara Jansen was born April 19, 1901, in Morgan Township, Woodbury Co., Iowa, the daughter of Johannes and Katherine Wigand Jansen. She married Thomas A. Petersen January 7, 1920, at her parents' home near Correctionville. The couple farmed near Danbury and moved to Sioux City in 1956. He died January 6, 1972. She moved to Anthon in April 1985 and had lived in a nursing home the last eight months. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a 68-year member of the Ladies Aid of the church. She was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Survivors include four sons, Harold of Correctionville, Orville, Merlin and Earl all of Danbury, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Garnet Petersen of Anthon, 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She was preceded by her husband, one son Elmer, three brothers and five sisters.
