Burial was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery at Midway, under direction of Walter Funeral Home. Peter Bernhardt Jansen was born December 17, 1899, near Midway, rural Correctionville, Iowa. Peter was married to Elsie Rossow on January 17, 1923, at her parents' home near Midway. The couple farmed in the Anthon-Correctionville community. In 1947 they moved into Anthon. Peter was a partner with his son Marvin for seventeen years in the Jansen John Deere Implement dealership at Anthon. His wife, Elsie, died August 23, 1982. Due to ill health, Peter has been residing in nursing homes at Mapleton and Correctionville. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where he served as trustee and elder. He was a member of the Lutheran Laymans League and a director of the First Trust & Savings Bank at Anthon for several years. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. John (Betty) Lavigne of Rush City, Minnesota, one son, Marvin of Ketchikan, Alaska, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Clark Petersen of Anthon. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one grandson, five sisters and two brothers.
