Hospital, Dartmouth, after a short illness. Death was due to pneumonia. The late Mrs. Uhlman was born in Torbrook, April 21st, 1879, a daughter of the late George and Louise Vanbuskirk MacGregor. On May 26th, 1897, she was married to James Elbridge Uhlman, and lived in Torbrook, Torbrook Mines and Tremont until 1917, when they moved to East Torbrook, where she has since resided, and has occupied a warm place in the hearts of the neighbors and people in general of the countryside. She leaves to mourn their loss, three sons, George, Wilmot Station; Leon, East Torbrook, and Milton of Torbrook Mines; one sister, Mrs. Edward Ward, Tremont; three grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Her husband predeceased her seven years ago, to the day. The funeral was held on Tuesday, February 6th at 2 p.m. from the home of her son, Milton Uhlman, to Torbrook Mines United Church, where in the absence of the pastor, the service was conducted by Rev. A.G. McClare of Nictaux, who delivered a comforting message from the text, "At evening time there shall be a light." Hymns sung by the male choir were "Face to Face", "We Are Going Down the Valley," "In the Sweet Bye and Bye." A solo "The Lights of Home," by F.L. Martyn. The many floral tributes were very beautiful, bearing testimony to the love and esteem for one whose passing has left a vacant place in the community. Interment was in the family lot in the cemetery adjoining the church. The pallbearers were, Messrs Eri Neily, Arthur Jefferson, Frank Balser and Aubrey Sanford. "Not now but in the coming years, it may be in the better land, We'll read the meaning of our tears and there sometime we'll understand."
