Description	:	Clarence B. Nichols, son of William and Mary Nichols, was born in Leeds, Wis., May 7, 1877. He passed away September 28, 1955, at York General Hospital, having reached the age of 78 years, 4 months and 21 days. At an early age he came to Geneva township, Fillmore county, Nebraska with his parents and lived on the farm now occupied by Maurice Lovegrove. Read More	Clarence B. Nichols, son of William and Mary Nichols, was born in Leeds, Wis., May 7, 1877. He passed away September 28, 1955, at York General Hospital, having reached the age of 78 years, 4 months and 21 days. At an early age he came to Geneva township, Fillmore county, Nebraska with his parents and lived on the farm now occupied by Maurice Lovegrove. Later his father purchased the home place, where the Kenneth Hofferber's now live. Here he grew to manhood, assisting his father in farming until his marriage. He attended rural school in District 18. He was united in marriage with Nellie E. Lashbrook, September 27, 1904. To this union were born six children, R. Herbert of Geneva; Francis W. of Fairfield, Ia., S. Gordon of Fairmont, Wilbur R. of Geneva, C. Donald of York and Marian, Mrs. Robert Hetherington of Tucson, Ariz. In 1954 Mr. and Mrs. Nichols celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Nichols was a member of the Fairmont Methodist church. His active life was spent as a farmer and stockman. He and his brother, Edgar, for many years bought and shipped livestock and later formed the Nichols Construction Company. In 1935, Clarence retired from the farm and moved to Fairmont with his wife and daughter. During the war he was caretaker of the Fairmont tourist court and later assisted his son, Gordon in the Phillips Service Station. His greatest enjoyment was the traveling, which he and his wife did throughout Nebraska and western states. For several years he suffered from a heart ailment, which with several strokes, resulted in his death. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brothers, Guy and Roy, and brother, Edgar W. Surviving are his wife, six children; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Ora Robbins of Fairmont and Mrs. Stanley Goostry of Vancouver, D.C.; numerous nieces; nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were held at the Fairmont Federated church Saturday, October 1, at 2 p.m., with Dr. Charles B. Hankins and Rev. Willard F. Payne officiating. Oliver Moul sang "Abide with Me" and "The Old Rugged Cross," with Janet Bridgman accompanist. Pallbearers were Elmer Hadsell, Howard Miller, Valti Capes, Floyd Gunlock, John A.
