This battle was part of the Meuse-Argonne Offensive created by General Ferdinand Foch of France. This plan states that the armies of England, France, and USA would split up sending France and England to Flanders, England to Cambrai, and France and USA to the Argonne Forest. The objective of the battle at the Argonne Forest was to capture the railroad/train station that was sending goods to Germany. The three way split up creating a combined attack worked to the Allies advantage. By October, in the Argonne Forest, the Americans needed reinforcments. The battle was halted, but then started up again on October 4,1918. By October 17, the French had covered 20 miles of German territory and had reached the Aisene River. By November 6th, the combined efforts of the Americans and French reached the city of Sedan and took it. These combined forces continued util November 11, 1918: the armistice and the end of the war.
