Cause of death, typhoid fever, complicated with gastric ulcers. Read More	Clarence I. Wells died at the home of his parents, C.E. Wells and wife, in this city on the afternoon of Monday, July 8th. Cause of death, typhoid fever, complicated with gastric ulcers. Clarence Ivan Wells was born in Seward, Winnebago county, Illinois, March 13th, 1873, hence he was aged 28 years, 3 months and 25 days when claimed by death. He lived with his parents in Illinois until 1890, when he came with the family to Fairmont, where he has since made his home. Deceased had been working in Colorado when he was taken with his last illness. Starting for home, he reached Grand Island, where he found himself unable to proceed farther alone. He telegraphed here to his father, who was then in Illinois on account of the illness and death of a brother. H.G. Marget, a brother-in-law, responded to the message, and brought him home Monday, July 1st. The sick man was under the parental roof just one week, where all was done that loving hearts and willing hands could do to relieve his suffering and make him comfortable, when death called him to his eternal reward. He leaves a father and mother; two sisters and two brothers, all of whom were here at the time of his death. He was a member of the Modern Woodman of America, in which he carried a beneficiary certificate payable to that dearest of earthly friends, the friend to whom the heart of a boy turns the quickest and with whom it lingers the longest. The funeral was held from the home at four o'clock p.m., Tuesday July 9th, Rev. C.H. Beaver, being in charge. The family has the sympathy of all in its sad affliction.
