On Saturday, November 5, Clarence scratched his hand slightly on the metal of a chicken crate and before evening he was in the hospital suffering from blood poisoning. Everything that medical skill could do was done for him, but the poison worked so rapidly in spreading through his system that there was nothing to do and the end was expected several days before it came. Mr. Gallaway was an employee at the Ravenna Creamery Co, and was one of their trusted men, who could always be depended upon. The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the Methodist church in charge of the pastor Rev. G. M. Carter. The church was filled to capacity by friends and relatives and the procession to the cemetery extended almost from the church to the cemetery. Clarence John Gallaway was born in Buffalo, New York, February 3, 1901, and died at Loup City, Nebraska, November 11, 1932. His age at the time of his death being 31 years, 9 months and 8 days. In 1911 when Clarence was ten years of age his parents moved to Nebraska. This has been the home of the Gallaways since that time and it was here that Clarence grew to manhood and received his education. On April 30, 1916, under the leadership of Rev. Slocum, Clarence united with the Methodist church in Loup City and has continued as a member since that time. On September 28, 1921, he was united in marriage with Miss Mae Camp and one year later, at the birth of their little daughter, both mother and daughter passed to the great beyond. In 1923 on October 3rd he was married to Miss Clarence McCall and to this union were born three children; a son, Harland Childes, who died at birth, Cathrine Bethine, aged five and Imo Irene, aged seven months. Beside the children he leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Gallaway, one sister, Mrs. Hans Dietz, four brothers, Childes, Stewart, and John Jr., all of Loup City and Earl of Litchfield, Nebraska, one brother, Darwin, preceded him in death. Beside these there are many other relatives and a host of friends in Buffalo, New York and here in Loup City. All who knew Clarence became his friend. The Sherman County Times - Nov 18 1932
